We are proud to be part of the history of the ancient village of Great Gonerby.
The present church stands on the site of an ancient Saxon place of worship.
Although the outside of the building looks 15 th century, inside is a mixture of
architectural styles some dating back to the 12 th centrury. The church is dedicated to
St Sebastian a Roman martyr.
The village clock, which was installed by the Parish Council in the church tower in
1897, has given the villagers the name ‘clockpelters’ following the practice of ‘pelting’
the clock face with stones to try to stop the clock so workers could go home!
There is detailed information available inside the church.
